Chicken Roll

Ingredients
  • 2 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup milk (or 2/3 cup water)
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 5 tbsp shortening
  • 1 cup minced chicken
  • Chicken gravy or 1 can cream of mushroom soup, heated and thinned to the consistency of a thick white sauce

    Mix biscuit dough of flour, shortening, salt, milk and baking powder and roll to ½ inch thickness. Spread with minced chicken which has been moistened slightly with a small quantity of the chicken gravy or thinned mushroom soup. Roll in jelly-roll fashion. Place in buttered pan and bake 30-40 minutes in 450 degree oven. Or the roll may be cut into 1 inch slices before baking. Put the cut side down in buttered pan and bake 12-15 minutes in 450 degree oven. Serve roll or slices with the remaining chicken or mushroom gravy.
