Double Butterscotch Brownies

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsifted flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 cup coarsely broken nuts
  • 6 oz butterscotch chips

    Generously grease an 8-inch square baking dish. Place butter in a medium sized bowl and microwave 30 seconds to until melted. Mix in brown sugar, egg, salt, flour, baking powder and vanilla until smooth. Stir in nuts. Pour batter into prepared baking dish. Microwave, uncovered, 6 minutes. Place butterscotch chips in a small bowl and heat in microwave oven 2 minutes. Spread melted butterscotch chips over brownies. When cool, cut into bars.
