Ingredients
  • 2 cup sifted flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup hard shortening
  • 1 cup milk
Instructions

    Measure sifted flour; put back in sifter over bowl. Add baking powder and salt and sift into a bowl. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender. Make a well in the flour mixture; add the milk all at once and stir with a fork until no flour shows and soft dough forms a ball.

    Drop tablespoons of dough 1” apart on ungreased baking sheet or drop into greased muffin tins to 2/3 full. Put on center rack of oven. Bake at 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm with butter or honey butter.
