German Chocolate Caramel Bars

Ingredients
  • 1 package caramels
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk, divided
  • 1 German Chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions

    Melt together caramels and 1/3 c. milk.

    Mix together cake mix, 1/3 c. milk and butter and press half of mix in the bottom of a 9 x 13 greased pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes.

    Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts on bottom layer. Pour caramel mixture over, then crumble the rest of the cake mixture on top. Bake for an additional 20 minutes.
