Description

Makes 2 - 14 inch pizzas

Ingredients
    Dough:
  • 3 cup unsifted flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp shortening
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons very warm water (120-130 degrees)
  • Sauce:
  • 16 oz tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • Toppings:
  • 1/4 lb pepperoni
  • 1 lb pork (browned)
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 green pepper
  • 11 oz mushroom pieces
  • 1 cup pitted black olives
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese, grated (freeze 30 minutes before)

    Dough:

    With metal blade, add flour, salt, shortening and yeast to bowl. Process until shortening is thoroughly cut into dry ingredients. Add half the water and pulse 4 times. Add remaining flour and water. Repeat on/off 4 times, then let processor run until a ball of dpugh forms. If the dough is too sticky, add more flour a tablespoon at a time. When correct consistency, let processor run 40-60 seconds to knead dough.

    Sauce:

    Combine ingredients.

    Toppings:

    Divide dough in half. Pat each half in a 14-inch greased pan. Add sauce and toppings. Bake at 425 degrees for 25-30 minutes until cheese is bubbly and crust is brown.
