Light Yellow Cake

Ingredients
  • 2/3 cup soft shortening (half butter)
  • 1 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 cup sifted bread flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla

    Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease well and dust with flour 2 round 9 inch layer pans or 1 oblong 13 x 9 pan. Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs thoroughly. Sift dry ingredients together. Stir into shortening mixture alternately with milk and vanilla. Bake layers 30-35 minutes or oblong 35-40  minutes. Cool and frost.
