Makes 1 loaf

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 2/3 cup sifted flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp poppy seeds
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

    Cream shortening, sugar and egg. Beat until light and fluffy. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add seeds. Combine milk and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and milk alternately to creamed mixture. Pour into greased and floured 7 x 3 x 2 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
