Poppy Seed Cake

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup poppy seed soaked in 3/4 cup milk for 2 hours (or overnight in refrigerator)
  • 4 egg whites
  • 2 cup flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla

    Cream together butter and sugar and add poppy seed mixture. Sift together flour and baking powder and add to first mixture. Add vanilla. Fold in egg whites beaten stiff. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes in greased and floured 10 inch tube pan or 9 x 13 pan.
