Snicker Doodles

Ingredients
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar, plus 2 tablespoons sugar for finishing
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 3/4 cup flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp cinnamon

    Mix together shortening, sugar and eggs. Sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt and add to shortening mixture. Chill dough. It can stand several days. Roll in balls the size of small walnuts. Roll in a mixture of 2 T. sugar and 2 t. cinnamon. Place on cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake at about 400 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until light brown.
